Christ said that He will build His Church. The building process is going on today; until TheBRIDE becomes the Heavenly Temple => The New Jerusalem, the Holy City.

The powerful 144,000 from the 12 Tribes of Israel is the very means and power to build Christ's Church. That is, to return to the Glorious Sinless Status of Man (Adam); even beyond that of Earth, which means to become Heavenly as Christ (2nd Adam) is heavenly.

WHOEVER REACHED THE 144,000 IS REDEEMED; AND BECOME A FIRSTFRUIT OF MANKIND

The number of 144,000 appears to be a census of the 12 Tribes of Israel. Each Tribe has exactly 12,000 listed.

When the first census was taken of the Tribes they had to pay a ransom (Exodus 30:12).

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, When thou takest the sum of the Children of Israel after their number, then shall THEY GIVE EVERY MAN A RANSOM for his soul unto the LORD...that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them. (Exo 30:11-12 KJV)

So, whoever deserved the total number of 144,000 from the 12 Tribes of Israel are sealed to become a ransomed or redeemed person. And the RANSOM was provided by CHRIST JESUS via His Sufferings and Death on the Cross (Revelation 14:3-4).

They sang a new song… but no one could learn the song except [those sealed] by 144,000 who had been REDEEMED FROM THE EARTH. (Rev 14:3 HCSB)

These were REDEEMED BY YESHUA from among Men, the FIRST FRUITS TO GOD and TO THE LAMB. (Rev 14:4 HNV)
