AVOID The Many IDOLS of SPORTS, ENTERTAINMENT, RELIGIONS, and POLITICS of This World. Like The Strong Temptation To Worship The Golden Calf Before The Return of Moses, so Christians & Jews Are Exposed To Strong Temptation To Worship Idols Before The Return of Christ!


The ZOHAR definition of Idol Worshipping includes much more than simply praying to statues or other false gods. Whenever we allow an external Object, Person, or Event to control our Behavior, Thoughts, or Emotions; we are worshipping an idol. Many people, for example, worship money as an idol (1Timothy 6:10, 2Timothy 3:2). They are disciples and servants to their own businesses. Others are controlled by APPEARANCES and the ACHIEVEMENTS of people around them. Every time we allow the external world and forces to control our hearts and minds, we are committing the sin of Idol Worshipping.

People today are provoking God to JEALOUSY with their newly invented idols and gods. Entrepreneurs even make IDOLATRY a BIG Business, creating many IDOLS in the field of Sports & Entertainment and Marketing/Advertisements. One classic example is the popularizing of the very word “IDOL” that God hates. So, we heard the popular TV Program of AMERICAN IDOL and IDOL Philippines. People spend (sacrifice) their time, money, emotions, and other resources in serving (worshipping) these many MODERN IDOLS of Idolatrous Society!

WHAT IS AN IDOL?

Webster Dictionary gives the following definitions:

IDOL, n. [L. idolum; Gr. form or to see.]
  1. An image, form or representation, usually of a man or other animal, consecrated as an object of worship; a pagan deity. Idols are usually statues or images, carved out of wood or stone, or formed of metals, particularly silver or gold. 
  2. An image.
  3. A person loved and honored to adoration. The prince was the idol of the people.
  4. Any thing on which we set our affections; that to which we indulge an excessive and sinful attachment. 
An idol is any thing or anyone which usurps the place of God in the hearts of his rational creatures.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN, IDOLATRY? 

IDOLATRY, n. [L. idololatria. Gr. idol, and to worship or serve.] 

1. The worship of idols, images, or any thing made by hands, or which is not God. 

Idolatry is of two kinds; 1) the worship of images, statues, pictures, made by hands; and 2) the worship of the heavenly bodies, the sun, moon and stars, or of demons, angels, MEN and animals.

2. Excessive attachment or veneration for any thing, or that which borders on adoration.

AS IN THE DAYS OF THE GOLDEN CALF
  • This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.  (Act 7:37 KJV)
  • This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:  (Act 7:38 KJV)
  • To whom our Fathers would NOT obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,  (Act 7:39 KJV)
  • And they made a CALF in those days, and offered Sacrifice unto the IDOL, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.  (Act 7:41 KJV)
AVOID IDOLS OF ALL KINDS, BECAUSE GOD IS A JEALOUS GOD! 
  • You shall have no other gods before me.  (Exo 20:3 HNV)
  • YOU SHALL NOT MAKE FOR YOURSELVES AN IDOL, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:  (Exo 20:4 HNV)
  • You shall not bow yourself down to them, NOR SERVE THEM, for I, THE LORD YOUR GOD, AM A JEALOUS GOD...  (Exo 20:5 HNV)
BUT THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD, INCLUDING MANY CHRISTIANS AND JEWS SERVE THESE FORBIDDEN IDOLS!

The world has many other idols in the personage of many celebrities: Sports Stars, Rock Stars, Movie Actors/Actresses, Singers, Politicians, and other idolized entertainers. And people serve them! 

People spend (sacrifice) their time, money, emotions, and other resources in serving (worshipping) these many MODERN IDOLS of idolatrous society! Thus, they purchase their record albums, music videos, movie shows, etc. They attend their rock concerts. They scream and cry just for the presence of these idols. They enjoyed their FIGHTS and watched their Sports Events. They even Bet for their Wins. They scream and cry just for the presence of these idols. They are updated of their gossips and news. They even elect them to Government Positions of Authority! 
  • ... that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.  (Luke 16:15 KJV)
These sacrifice of energy, emotions, time, and money, they are not able, and they are not willing to do the same with the Creator God who is the very source of their life!
  • They served their idols, which became a snare to them.  (Psa 106:36)
All the above idolatrous practices provoked God's jealousy.
  • They provoked His JEALOUSY with Foreign gods; they enraged Him with detestable practices. They sacrificed to Demons, not God, to gods they had not known, new gods that had just arrived, which your Fathers did not fear. (Deu 32:16-17)
THEREFORE, THEY IGNORE AND FORGOT THEIR FATHER IN HEAVEN!

With the emotions, thoughts, time, money, and resources seduced by these newly invented gods and idols; the people, especially the youth, ignored their Creator, and forgot the God who sustains them and gave them their life, talents, and resources. Instead, they shout, scream, and do many things that pertains to worshipping an idol, their many idols literally!
  • You ignored the ROCK who gave you Birth; you FORGOT the God who brought you forth. (Deu 32:18) 
ENTERTAINMENT BY IDOLS PUT A SINFUL STUMBLING BLOCKS BEFORE THE FACES OF PEOPLE, CORRUPT THEIR MINDS, AND SEPARATE THEM FROM GOD ALMIGHTY!
  • Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and have put sinful stumbling blocks before their Faces. Should I be consulted by them at all?  (Eze 14:3)
  • When anyone... sets up idols in his heart, puts a sinful stumbling block before his face... I, the LORD, will answer him appropriately. I will answer him according to his many idols, so that I may take hold... their hearts, because they are all estranged from Me by their IDOLS.  (Eze 14:4-5)
  • For when anyone from the house of Israel or from the foreigners who reside in Israel separates himself from Me, setting up idols in his heart and putting a sinful stumbling block before his Face, and then comes to the Prophet to inquire of Me, I, The LORD, will answer him Myself.  (Eze 14:7)
  • I will turn against that one and make him a sign and a proverb; I will cut him off from among My people. Then you will know that I am The LORD.  (Eze 14:8)
GOD'S PUNISHMENT TO CHRISTIANS AND JEWS THAT ARE HOOKED BY THE IDOLS OF THIS IDOLATROUS WORLD
  • This is what the Lord GOD says: I am going to hand you over to those you hate, to those you turned away from in disgust.  (Eze 23:28)
  • They will treat you with hatred, take all you have worked for, and leave you stark naked, so that the shame of your debauchery will be exposed, both your indecency and promiscuity.  (Eze 23:29)
  • These things will be done to you because you acted like a Prostitute with the Nations, DEFILING YOURSELF WITH THEIR IDOLS.  (Eze 23:30)
  • When I vent My jealous rage on you, they will deal with you in Wrath. They will cut off your nose and ears, and your descendants will fall by the sword. They will seize your sons and daughters, and your descendants will be consumed by FIRE.  (Eze 23:25)
  • They will strip off your clothes and take your beautiful jewelry.  (Eze 23:26)
  • They have provoked My Jealousy with their so-called gods; they have enraged Me with their worthless IDOLS. (Deu 32:21)
  • For Fire has been kindled because of My Anger and burns to the depths of Sheol; it devours the land and its produce, and scorches the foundations of the mountains.  (Deu 32:22) 
  • I will pile disasters on them; I will use up My arrows against them.  (Deu 32:23)
  • So I will put an end to your indecency and sexual immorality, which began in the land of Egypt, and you will not look longingly at them or remember Egypt any more.  (Eze 23:27)
WARNING TO ALL IDOLS AND THEIR MAKERS; TO THOSE WHO BENEFITTED FROM THE MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY OF IDOLATRY OF THIS WORLD
  • All of them are put to shame, even humiliated; the makers of idols go in humiliation together.  (Isa 45:16)
  • It will come to pass in that day, says the LORD of Armies, that I WILL CUT OFF THE NAMES OF THE IDOLS OUT OF THE LAND, and they will no more be remembered; and also I will cause the Prophets and the Spirit of IMPURITY to pass out of the land.  (Zec 13:2 HNV)
  • For there will be a day of the LORD of Armies for all that is proud and haughty, and for all that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low:  (Isa 2:12 HNV)
  • The lofty looks of man will be brought low, the haughtiness of men will be bowed down, and The LORD alone will be exalted in that day.  (Isa 2:11 HNV)
  • The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.  (Isa 2:17 HNV)
  • Their land also is full of IDOLS. They worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.  (Isa 2:8 HNV) 
  • And the IDOLS he shall utterly abolish.  (Isa 2:18 KJV)
THEREFORE, REPENT AND FLEE FROM IDOLS AND IDOLATRY! 
  • This is what the Lord GOD says: Repent and turn away from your IDOLS; turn your faces away from all your abominations.  (Eze 14:6) 
  • Therefore, my dear friends, flee from IDOLATRY.  (1Cor 10:14) 
  • Little children, guard yourselves from IDOLS.  (1John 5:21)
  • Cease from man, whose breath is in his nostril; for in what is he to be esteemed?  (Isa 2:22 MKJV)
